With this new story set in Who-ville, readers will finally get to know how the Grinch spent Christmas one year after the events of his big heist and will see if he has truly embraced the spirit of Christmas. The publication was announced today by Judith Haut, EVP, Deputy Publisher, Random House Children’s Books, with Susan Brandt, President and CEO, Dr. Seuss Enterprises. Dr. Seuss’s HOW THE GRINCH LOST CHRISTMAS! marks the first time that Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books have expanded Dr. Seuss’s classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! narrative. The new story begins one year after the Grinch stole Christmas from Who-ville. Eager to prove to the Whos that his heart has grown to love the holiday, the Grinch devises a plan to win Who-ville’s Christmas Crown by making the largest, most spectacular Christmas tree the Whos have ever seen! When things don’t go as planned, the Grinch’s heart turns ice-cold, and he threatens to leave Who-ville for good . . . until one small, special Who reminds him that Christmas is not about winning.
An uplifting follow-up to the timeless tale that has been at the center of Christmas festivities for more than 66 years, HOW THE GRINCH LOST CHRISTMAS! will bring new joy to Seuss fans young and old.
Featuring a foil-enhanced jacket and full-color illustrations rendered in the iconic style of the original, HOW THE GRINCH LOST CHRISTMAS! makes a splendid gift and is a must-have addition to Dr. Seuss libraries everywhere. This is a fully original story, written and illustrated in classic Dr. Seuss style by author Alastair Heim and artist Aristides Ruiz. Heim and Ruiz have contributed to Dr. Seuss publishing over the years, with Heim writing the “by the Cat in the Hat” books If I Had Your Vote, If I Ran Your School, and If I Were Saint Nick, as well as the board book I Am the Cat in the Hat, and with Ruiz illustrating the Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library books for over two decades.
Says Susan Brandt, President and CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises: “How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is one of the most beloved holiday celebration books of all time. Adding to that legacy with a sequel is a process we have carefully considered, and we love what the author and illustrator have created. We feel it will be yet another heartwarming piece of Seussian literature that will help families around the world grow their hearts three more sizes as they celebrate the holidays for decades to come.”
Says Alice Jonaitis, Executive Editor, Dr. Seuss Publishing: “One of the most asked questions we receive from Seuss fans of all ages is ‘What do you think happened to the Grinch after he stole Christmas?’ We are excited to finally be able to answer this question and have the magic of Grinchmas live on with this new book brought to life by Alastair Heim and Aristides Ruiz.”
How the Grinch Stole Christmas! has become an annual holiday tradition for families and young children around the globe, with three blockbuster movies starring major names, including Jim Carrey and Benedict Cumberbatch, and several other books featuring the Grinch, including the recently published Dr. Seuss’s The Sounds of Grinchmas (on sale September 2021), which has already sold 200,000 copies. The news was announced today, Dr. Seuss’s birthday, by DSE and RHCB.
Seuss Studios will carry forward Dr. Seuss’s legacy of inspiring millions of people to learn to love to read by working with an inclusive community of authors and illustrators to create books for all young readers and families that capture Dr. Seuss’s hallmark spirit of creativity and imagination.
The sketches and illustrations that will serve as inspiration pieces for Seuss Studios books have been selected from the Dr. Seuss Collection archives at UC San Diego and curated by Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books. The original Dr. Seuss sketch that serves as the inspiration for each of the new Seuss Studios books will be included in the book, along with a note from the creators explaining how they were inspired, and their process.
The launch of Seuss Studios is a tribute to Ted Geisel’s commitment to supporting new writers and artists. In 1957, Ted Geisel co-founded the Beginner Books imprint at Random House, the iconic line that includes enduring, bestselling classics like The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. With this imprint, Geisel sought not only to create a robust and enriching library for kids, but also to open new doors for creators who were either at the beginning of their publishing careers or who worked in other creative industries.
Continuing the tradition started with Beginner Books, Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Random House Children’s Books will seek out and work with a varied roster of fresh new voices to develop the Seuss Studios line.
Mallory Loehr, EVP and Publisher, Random House Books for Young Readers; and Martha Rago, VP, Executive Creative Director, RHCB, will oversee editorial and art direction at Random House Children’s Books.
Susan Brandt, President and CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises said, “Seuss Studios is a new, exciting step in the continued evolution and growth of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, and one that will help us ensure that Dr. Seuss’s images live on in the best possible way—and in new ways—for future readers. We look forward to putting the spotlight on a new generation of talent who we know will bring their unique voices and style to the page, while also drawing inspiration from the creativity and imagination of Dr. Seuss.”
Mallory Loehr said: “I can't wait to see what the Seuss Studios creators come up with! The unique styles and voices of each author and illustrator in the Seuss Studios line will shine through on every page, cover to cover—with a glimmer of Dr. Seuss’s imagination tucked inside each book. I know that these stories will connect to today's young readers and inspire a joy in reading for years and years to come.”
Seuss Studios books will be geared towards readers ages 4 to 8. Additional details on the inaugural list will be announced later this year.

High Above Who-ville, Dr. Seuss Enterprises and Vacasa Team Up for a Unique Holiday Stay in the Grinch’s Very Own Mt. Crumpit Cave
WHO-VILLE (Nov. 30, 2021) – Dr. Seuss Enterprises, a leading global children’s entertainment company, today announced that it is teaming up with Vacasa, North America’s leading vacation rental management platform, to create one of the most unique experiences just north of Who-ville in the Grinch's famous cave! The Seusstastic story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! will be brought to life for a limited time, giving holiday revelers the chance to experience the Grinch and his dog Max’s home like never before.
Adventurous travelers, families, and Grinch enthusiasts looking for a steal this Christmas can celebrate the holiday season in the most whimsical way — by actually booking the Grinch’s infamous cave on Vacasa.com. (Unfortunately, the Grinch himself will be taking a holiday from the holidays as far away from all the caroling, candy canes, and Christmas cheer as he can.) Located “Three thousand feet up, Up the side of Mt. Crumpit,” guests can book the Grinch’s cave on Vacasa.com starting Dec. 3 for stays leading up to the Christmas holiday from Dec. 13 - 23. Given the Grinch's reclusive ways, the cave is set on the outskirts of town, just outside Boulder, Utah, on a beautiful, remote property. The nightly rate for a stay will be $19.57* in honor of the book’s original release in 1957, and will include Vacasa’s signature guest and home care—with a few extra touches.
The Grinch’s rocky residence is within a hand-carved cave on the side of a massive stone mountain. Designers have decked the halls of this multi-level 5,700 square-foot lair with everything a Grinch fan could imagine. There’s a kitchen stocked with roastable beast, Who-pudding, and an emergency stash of Who-hash. A music room includes the Grinch's organ alongside Max’s drum set leading into the study, main bedroom, guest bedroom, and more. Everywhere they go, visitors will be completely immersed in the world of the Grinch. Even more, the house is outfitted with all of Grinch's gadgets; his over-the-top coffee machine, armoire with green furry pants, a full-body brush, and all the kitchen supplies one would need to host a festive FEAST! FEAST! FEAST!
True to the beloved Dr. Seuss tale, the cave will have all the details that make the Grinch's Mt. Crumpit home so iconic. When asked why he won’t be at the cave to greet visitors, the Grinch commented, “I just don’t really want to. Now go away.” (After all, that’s what Vacasa is for.)
Grinch fans staying at the Grinch’s cave will have the added benefit of Vacasa’s 24/7 guest support and elevated home care. Just like every other Vacasa vacation rental, the Grinch’s cave will be professionally cleaned and cared for by a dedicated local team, so guests can pack up their snoof, and their tringlers and fuzzles and enjoy a worry-free stay.
Interested visitors are encouraged to visit vacasa.com/Grinch for a 3D tour of the cave, and to mark their calendars for booking release times—the limited stays are expected to fill immediately.
*$19.57 nightly rate does not include local lodging tax.

While other stories featured Santa and the joys of Christmas, this soon-to-be holiday classic starred a Grinch who disliked the whole Christmas season. Six decades later, “Grinch” is part of the modern lexicon and included in four different dictionaries; the book has spawned star-led Hollywood productions, animated specials, and a musical; and millions of Grinch-inspired products from makeup to union suits are sold globally each year to fans who love the character’s snarky wit.

Kilburn Live Teams Up With Dr. Seuss Enterprises For Brand New Holiday Experience Fit For Celebrating The 2020 Yuletide Season
Los Angeles, CA (October XX, 2020) – “You’re a mean one, 2020.” It’s been a year to say the least and even as the holidays approach, some may be feeling more grouchy than usual. If taking those traditional cheerful holiday photos with the family are exactly what you don’t feel like doing, there’s now an alternative! Today, Kilburn Live, a market leader in the Live Entertainment industry, announced a new partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, a global leader in educational entertainment, to create “The Grinch’s Grotto,” an imaginative take on holiday photo shoots that will give guests the ability to show off in a fun way a bit of their grumpiness during what is still the most wonderful time of the year.
Created in partnership with retail leaders such as Westfield Group, Brookfield Properties, Macerich and Oxford Properties, “The Grinch’s Grotto” will launch on Black Friday across a limited number of flagship malls throughout North America including ones in Los Angeles, Chicago, DC, Dallas, Houston, San Diego, San Francisco, Miami, Toronto and the New York Tri-State area. Guests will enter these free-standing locations for a one-of-a-kind visit with The Grinch in his special cave for a photo-shoot and other special surprises that is both intimate and in true Grinch fashion - socially-distant.
“If there was ever a year where The Grinch really would take over the holiday season, its 2020,” said Kilburn CEO Mark Manuel. “It’s been said even the meanest soul is moved by Christmas and at its core this Dr. Seuss story is about finding your own way to redemption which is what inspired us here. Even though it is 2020 we still wanted to find a way to give families some joy this holiday season in a lighthearted and fun way. After all, 2020 has been a tough year, but it can’t take away our ability to smile and laugh which are oftentimes the first steps of continued hope”.
Complete with a burlap sack full of presents, a Grinch stylized holiday tree and a backlit fireplace with hanging stockings just as depicted in the book, this true-to-form experience will place guests inside the classic tale in one of the most authentic ways possible. Guests will also be given the opportunity to pick a sign with their choice of a favorite 2020 slogan to be placed in their photo with the Grinch. Sample slogans include, “You’re a mean one, 2020”, 2020: "Stink, Stank, Stunk”, “2020 - How The Grinch Stole, Well, The Whole Year” and some positive ones including “The Grinch still can’t steal Christmas.”
“Dr. Seuss famously wrote ‘Christmas Day will always be, just as long as we have we,” said Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P. “This unique experience was created with that mindset and will give fans the opportunity to wallow a little bit in their grumpiness, but also remember how the holiday spirit can bring out the best in anyone—even a Grinch. Complete with readings, graduation photo-sharing, inspirational words of wisdom, and more—all inspired by Dr. Seuss’s beloved book and perennial graduation gift, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!—everyone anywhere can join in the festivities and salute 2020’s graduates and celebrate the 30th anniversary of this iconic title.
While setting the record for the longest spaceflight by an American (340 days), astronaut Scott Kelly saw places that very few on Earth have, and he offers an inspirational perspective on our current situation and what this moment means for the class of 2020: “It is an honor to join the Oh, the Places You’ll Go! campaign to recognize graduates across the country, who are beginning their journey of discovery and achievement," says Kelly.

LAB Releases Dr. Seuss-Inspired Apparel Collection Featuring Iconic Artwork and Eco-Friendly Materials to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of Earth Day
HUNTINGTON BEACH, California – April 22, 2020 –In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, Billabong LAB proudly announces their latest apparel and boardshorts collection featuring iconic artwork from Pulitzer Prize- winning children’s book author Dr. Seuss. The Billabong x Dr. Seuss Earth Day 2020 Collection will release in five product deliveries – each designed according to a different Dr. Seuss book– between today and July 2020. Both companies also hope that the line will give fans something to get excited about and look forward to for when beaches and nature’s playgrounds start to re-open again.
This premium design collaboration with Dr. Seuss Enterprises comes through Billabong LAB, a platform that supports artists, musicians, designers and photographers. Made using recycled and sustainable materials, this collection embraces both the messages and the unique art of classic Dr. Seuss books including The Lorax.
Consisting of more than thirty pieces, the Billabong x Dr. Seuss collaboration inspires environmental activism and enjoyment of the great outdoors. In the words of the Lorax to young readers: “UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” As a special activation for Earth Day, Billabong will release a Dr. Seuss-inspired boardshort made from recycled plastics and – for the first time ever – CiCLO® technology in its high-performance fabric. The patent pending CiCLO® technology (pronounced sēklō, translates to cycle) is an enzyme that helps close the loop and reduce plastic pollution.
The relationship between Dr. Seuss and boardsports culture is a long and storied one. Ever since the early 1990s, the treasured author’s artwork has been featured on skateboard graphics and t-shirts. Taking things to the next level, the Billabong x Dr. Seuss collaboration marks the first full-fledged apparel release with a boardsports brand. For maximum impact, the collection will be endorsed by members of Billabong’s elite surf athlete team such as Jack Freestone, Ryan Callinan, and Seth Moniz in promotional content advocating ocean conservancy, among other themes.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Dr. Seuss team for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day,” said Evan Slater, VP of Global Marketing at Billabong. “The art (and message) from The Lorax not only had lasting positive impact on multiple generations, it remains more relevant now than ever.”
“The fashion-forward and eco-friendly styles of Billabong will resonate well with Dr. Seuss fans young and old. It’s the type of collaboration that we like to work on as it is a great way to share the magic of Dr. Seuss well beyond the page, and the Lorax line is also true to the message put forth in the book. We know fans will enjoy the line when they are able to hit the beaches and outdoor playgrounds later this summer,” said Susan Brandt, President, Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
Launching today, the first mini-collection includes t-shirts, long sleeve tees, hoodies, and pants crafted from organic cotton adorned by the Lorax-inspired designs and ‘I speak for the trees, I speak for the seas’ messaging. Boardshorts made from recycled polyester will feature the Lorax art as full-color sublimation print in a 19-inch performance fit. Accessories such as an organic cotton snapback hat and pool slides featuring vegan leather sole composites bring the opening drop full circle.
The second mini-collection emphasizes tree conservation in the Truffula-themed release. Rendered in monochromatic black and white, the drop consists of black tees and long sleeves replete with Lorax line art, a short-sleeve button-up with allover print and mechanical stretch and a tote bag from organic cotton canvas. Truffula pool slides, bucket hat and recycled polyester boardshorts complete this stylish drop.
Finally, with prominent messaging during Earth Day, we will mark the release of the Lorax Sundays Pro boardshort, the world’s first boardshort that takes one giant leap further toward reducing plastics in our oceans and landfills. Crafted from patent-pending CiCLO® technology, the sky-blue shorts are adorned with Lorax and tree artwork in a 19-inch performance fit.
Endorsed by Billabong athlete Jack Freestone, the collection also includes several Dr. Seuss-themed t-shirts, short-sleeve button-up shirts, hats, and a large-sized Billabong x Dr. Seuss beach towel made from soft organic cotton. On June 24, the ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ drop will introduce tie-dye art vibes on boardshorts and long-sleeve tees, among other pieces, before the ‘One Fish, Two Fish’ release on July 6 imagines classic surf spots such as Pipeline and J-Bay in unmistakable Dr. Seuss style.
Each product release in the Billabong x Dr. Seuss Collection is accompanied by digital content along with retail activations as public spaces begin to re-open again later this summer.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Sugar Creative Launch AR Alphabet App
SAN DIEGO (March 3, 2020) Dr. Seuss Enterprises, a leading global children’s entertainment company, today launched their first ever augmented reality experience for a Dr. Seuss title, Dr. Seuss’s ABC – An Amazing AR Alphabet! Based on the bestselling book Dr. Seuss’s ABC, the app lets kids interact and learn the alphabet along with Seussian characters. It was also created with support from Unity’s MARS extension, which powers the augmented reality technology within the app.
Dr. Seuss’s ABC—An Amazing AR Alphabet! App is now available on the Apple App store and Google Play for phones and tablets and is also a tribute to Dr. Seuss’s Birthday, which kicked off yesterday, March 2nd, with the celebration continuing through the week.
The app allows kids to play with animated characters such as Aunt Annie’s Alligator, David Donald Doo, Fiffer-Feffer-Feff, Little Lola Lopp, Vera Violet Vinn, Young Yolanda Yorganson, Zizzer-Zazzer-Zuzz, and more – and even create their own AR story world.

In addition, there is an A to Z feature that lets kids select a chapter of the book and listen to a narrated story with their favorite characters.
“Digital media and AR technology can be a powerful tool for supporting young children’s learning, so we are looking forward to offering families this new opportunity for interactive play,” Sugar Creative Managing Director Jason Veal said. “Dr. Seuss’s ABC – An Amazing AR Alphabet! App invites kids to create unique and hands-on learning experiences every time they play.”
The app also offers an innovate Sandbox feature that allows kids to select animated characters and create their very own AR world.
Dr. Seuss’s ABC—An Amazing AR Alphabet! App is powered by Unity’s MARS extension, which gives brands the power to build mixed reality (MR) and augmented reality (AR) applications that intelligently interact with any real-world environment for a deeper sense of presence and context. Unity provides the most accessible real-time platform and powers more than 60% of all the world’s AR and VR content.
